Rainlore's World of Music will become simply Rainlore's World in the New Year, with a subtext of '- Music, Arts & Letters.' This is in order to reflect the much broader spectrum the site has come to include over the years. Over the next year or two, a thorough revamp of the site is hoped to be carried out to take this into account and to simplify the site and make it more user-friendly too. For the time being, the domain will remain the same. Comments and suggestions always welcome.

A new book review will follow soon, as soon as it can be fitted in which shouldn't be too long!

Happy New Year!

Definitely worth waiting for, a literary review of a thrilling new novel set in the music business! Howard Male's Etc Etc Amen, the thrilling debut novel by the respected music and arts reviewer, is a fictional biography of a 1970s pop star and a thriller rolled into one! I had been 'sitting' on this review for a while, awaiting the publishing date, which finally was set for 14th November. It is published by Palace Park Press.

Etc Etc Amen will be launched with a book reading/signing at The Bookseller Crow, 50 Westow Street, London, SE19 3AF, on Friday the 23rd November at 7.30pm. Male will be sharing the evening with legendary NME scribe Chris Salewicz (promoting his updated Joe Strummer biography) and alternative folk musician Martin Austwick, who presumably will be playing some alternative folk.

The end of October also saw the launch of the Spanish translation of Gilad Atzmon's successful study of Jewish Identity Politics, The Wandering Who?, already translated into French and German, to huge acclaim in the Spanish media and the usual panic and hate mongering from Zionist quarters. Atzmon's work is more relevant than ever in view of the renewed Nazi style aggression against and continued brutal 'ethnic cleansing' of Palestine.

The dispute with the Kinsky estate in re: copyright issues over the cover of W. A. Harbinson's Beauty And The Beast - The Story Of Nastassja And Klaus Kinski, reviewed here this spring, has been resolved amicably, I am informed. The disputed cover has been replaced and this fascinating book is available freely again. The new cover shows artwork of Nastassja and Klaus Kinski, which is far more effective actually with its dual symbolism of the two facing away from each other and their hair almost intertwined. Kinski the father also happens to look suitably much more demonic. You can judge for yourself as the new cover has now been installed on the review page.

A new literary review is also in preparation and should see the light of day here fairly soon.

With regard to last week's literary review of W. A. Harbinson's Beauty And The Beast - The Story Of Nastassja And Klaus Kinski, this may now be temporarily withdrawn due to a dispute with the Klaus Kinski estate. It would seem that this is in re: copyright issues over the cover photograph. It is strongly to be hoped that this matter will be resolved quickly and that this illuminating book will be available again very soon, if necessary with a different cover.

Please note that in order to reduce the number of constantly repeating links, those referring to pages or local page items that can easily be found in the navigation bar at the top of each page will in future be omitted. This will affect references to, e.g., 'reviews.'

Also please note that the 2011 part of this page has now been archived.

A slightly premature site update in order to include a review of an unexpected gig elsewhere. Here, we at last catch up with a literary review, of W. A. Harbinson's Beauty And The Beast - The Story Of Nastassja And Klaus Kinski - the 'bad kids' on the movie block! At last the stories of the two legendary Kinskis are joined up, giving a deeper insight into both their individual personalities and their relationship to one another. This is a story that has been long overdue.

We're at last getting on top of things and catching up with the long overdue reviews! To start with a review of W. A. Harbinson's superb work of 'fictionalised non-fiction,' Iconic Voices. It's a riveting yarn about Elvis, Brando, Mailer, Lennon and Warhol, based on biographical source material. Five of the most iconic figures from the sphere of the arts of the twentieth century speak, from beyond the grave! In an age when truly original writing seems to have gone the way of the dinosaurs, this is a sharp reminder that it can still be found, after all!

Much delayed, an interim site update, with more to follow soon.

To start with, a bit of catching up going back to last November for now. A Report/Review, Musical Workshops With Gilad Atzmon / Launch of 'Gilad Uncovered - 10 Saxophone Solos By Gilad Atzmon Transcribed And Edited By Chris Gumbley' at Howarth Of London, London W1, 5th November 2011 (2011/11/06) - the best, most fun and most beneficial musical workshop it's been my pleasure to ever experience. Oh yes. And the launch of a fantastic little book! If you missed this event and are a sax player, you really missed something special. But all is not lost, as Atzmon frequently gives workshops and seminars. So look out for them!

Which leads us to a Literary Review: Chris Gumbley - Gilad Uncovered - 10 Saxophone Solos By Gilad Atzmon Transcribed And Edited By Chris Gumbley (2011/11/07). Chris Gumbley has done a fantastic job here in transcribing ten exhilarating sax solos by jazz genius Atzmon, plus a bonus clarinet solo. Something that's been overdue for a while! Even for the jazz aficionado able to sight read, these are practically a must have and hugely enjoyable to read along the music!

More overdue book reviews ASAP.
